This precious side board was stained in deep red and decorated with graffiti when I bought it. Apparently it had been kept in storage and some youths had broken in and decided to refurbish it with spray paint. I felt it was just to gorgeous to let go. So here it is, recreated.
This is my first attempt at milk paint. For those who don't know (me neither until a few months ago), milk paint is a primitive way of applying colour. It is a mixture of milk curds and lime with pigment that has exception sticking qualities and a beautiful long life appearance. The finish is covered with wax, oil or varnish to protect it. (I used hemp oil again- love the stuff).
